Reason for the Season

Christmas Season is a time when many celebrate a holiday filled with many warm hearted traditions. In America we celebrate with “Christmas Trees” decorated with colorful lights and shiny ornaments. Many give and/or exchange gifts with friends and family. It’s a time when people tend to become more charitable and go out of their way to help those in need. with their time or money. Many songs and movies have been created to help us enjoy and celebrate Christmas.

For Christians, there is the added “Reason for the Season” in the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Messiah and Savior. Popular Scripture verses from the Bible are often quoted, even for Secular situations. Among believers some of their favorites include:

The verse from the Book of Isaiah in the Old Testament was written around 700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. It is an example of Prophecy about the coming birth of Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago. The two Books of Matthew and Luke from the New Testament are the only Gospels of the New Testament to record details about the birth of Jesus.

Altogether they point to Jesus as the Messiah, our Lord and He came to save us from our sins. He, alone, is the reason for the season. All the worldly traditions and trimmings are just that, for Christmas has become a national holiday and now an international holiday observed in many countries. For believers, Jesus is the Reason for the Season.
