Leaves

Eph 2:10 “God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God, makes us new people, so that we would spend our lives doing the good things He had already planned for us to do.” (ERV)

When I was growing up in Western Pennsylvania, the falls were so colorful! There were lots of maple trees, and oak trees, so colors were red, orange and yellows. Just so beautiful. When I first became a Christian, I thought that trees and their changing leaves were all part of His great creation. How so creative God is!

When I went to school, and had a science class, I found out that leaves on trees always had this capacity to do this. The chlorophyll made their leaves change color. The chlorophyll process made the green color disappear and the vivid colors of orange, red, and yellow became visible. The temperatures change would help to make the leaves change colors. God is so creative.

God has made us as we are. He has made us His people and we are a new creature when we turn to Him, and we can do His will. So in a sense, we are leaves. God has always worked in us and will continue to do so. He will draw our colorful creativeness out of us! We don’t know what He has planned for us, but we know that they are good things for us to do. Since God had prepared these things ahead of time, we can walk in his way. What an adventure!

Everything is New

2 Corinthians 5:17-18  “When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world. The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new! All this is from God. Through Christ, God made peace between himself and us. And God gave us the work of bringing people into peace with him.” (ERV‬‬)

God’s Design

I was about 5 years old.  My mother and I stood at the front door to our home.  We could see, and hear, the storm.  There was lightning and thunder.  It was totally amazing that I could hear something.  I heard thunder!  I was learning I could hear some things.  Not much, but some things.  I also saw lightning and thunder as part of a world I wanted to know more about.  It gave me an interest in science, and learning how the world was made.
