Ephesians 5:20 “Always give thanks to God the Father for everything in the Name of our Lord Jesus.” (ERV).
Be thankful for everything. Good things and Bad things. Be thankful for All things. The good things are easy to be thankful for. The bad things, it’s not so easy to be thankful for. As we get older, we may have some health problems. It’s not easy, but we can learn to be thankful. God is always with us. I have Bone Marrow Cancer, or Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
I am learning to be thankful for each day. I am in remission. So what does that mean? As my Doctor explained, I will always have this cancer, but it is under control. I have to take medicine to keep it under control. It doesn’t go away completely, so I have side effects from the medicine and cancer. I have bathroom problems, sleep problems and permanent fatigue. I’m doing the best I can with it. If you have health problems, I’m sure you are doing the best you can.
One of the side effects is Insomnia or sleep problems. I also have Sleep Apnea so Sleep Apnea and my cancer make my insomnia worse. And so I can’t sleep. I get restless and toss and turn. When you can’t sleep, what can you do?
Count sheep. 1,2,3. 🐑 …🐑 …🐑 …
Play the Animal Alphabet Game. Name animals by letter and go through the alphabet. A,B,C. You can make short sentences with each word that begins with letter you’re on. You can use a, an and the to make a sentence. These can be silly. For example. A, Ants are antsy. B, The bee buzzed by. C, The Calico cat caught a cold. One of my friends told me that she couldn’t do that. It would keep her awake. But she tried it. She told me it worked! I guess you get tired from thinking and so you start sleeping!
Sing to the Lord. Count your Blessings, a Hymn:
“Count your blessings. Name them one by one. And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”
We do have so much to be thankful for. God has given us so many blessings. We can give back to Him with our tithes. This is a blessing. So just start naming your blessings. One by one. Our lives, our spouse, our family, our friends, our church, our mission, our gifts to share and help others, our homes, our food, our clothes we wear, our work, our retirement, our play, our health, our rest, There are many more but this can get you started.
Thank the Lord for Himself, and what He has done. He is our Creator, our Savior, our Lord.
Thank You Lord, A Song of Praise:
“Thank you Lord for saving my soul.
Thank you Lord for making me whole.
Thank you Lord for giving to me thy great salvation so rich and free.”
Jesus came to earth to save us, all who turn to Him and believe Him. God came to save us so we can be His children. God gives us a gift each day. We can thank Him, give the day to Him and go on.
Thank you Lord!.
