God’s Design

I was about 5 years old.  My mother and I stood at the front door to our home.  We could see, and hear, the storm.  There was lightning and thunder.  It was totally amazing that I could hear something.  I heard thunder!  I was learning I could hear some things.  Not much, but some things.  I also saw lightning and thunder as part of a world I wanted to know more about.  It gave me an interest in science, and learning how the world was made.

Many years later, I wrestled with the Holy Spirit telling me about our awesome world.  I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make Jesus my Lord in life.  I went walking through a park with tall trees.  I looked up and saw a perfectly “planned” randomness in the way the trees grew limbs and branches.  It made me think deeply about our world and how God gave it beauty.  Understanding how God created the world helped me to accept Jesus into my heart.  When I was witnessed to by my future wife, I felt like I was being consumed and changed by a fire.  No longer was I an atheist who put science above all else, but a believer in Jesus and God the Father.  Suddenly many things which puzzled me about life became clear.  I now had a great desire to read God’s Word, the Bible, and I read it through many times.  In a rushing wind, it seemed, I was transformed by His grace.

Those of us who are believers can remember the day when we received a new birth.  A new life in Jesus as our Savior.  It is a “WOW” moment in our lives when it happens.  This is the moment when we are “Born Again”.  If you have not experienced that moment, I pray you will, some day soon, also get to know Jesus.

Genesis 1:31“God saw all that he had made – and it was very good! There was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day.”  (NET)
