So Much Pain

Today I went to the dentist to have a tooth cavity filled. The dentist was quick, courteous and professional. The procedure went fast and was without pain. I marvel at the many medical advances of recent years. They are able to make a visit to a dentist almost, dare I say, “pleasant”? I am old enough to remember way back when my first few cavities were filled. Back then, the procedure was very painful. Why? No anesthesia. Nothing was given to numb you. So, when you felt you could take no more pain, the dentist would stop and let you rest up for more drilling and pain. After a few minutes, he would resume the drilling and I would need to endure more pain. So much pain! I was very happy when it was all over and done. Continue reading

Everything You Type

I can remember having a manual typewriter like the one pictured here below. It was great to have a portable model. I took it to college and typed many term papers using this old technology. It had a stiff “keyboard” and my fingers would ache after a short while from “punching” the keys down TypeAllYouDoso it would strike the ribbon and paper hard enough to leave an inked impression on the paper. If I made a mistake, I had to correct it very carefully. You either had a bottle of white, correction fluid, or a ribbon with one half inked and the other half with correction powder. By shifting a special key, you could type a “correction” on top of the erroneous letter followed by retyping in the same spot with the correct letter. Or, you could dab some correction fluid on the offending letter, let it dry and then type the correct letter over it. Either way it was messy, not always perfect and slow. Continue reading

My wife and I just returned from vacation at WDW. It was fun, but not so much for blogging. For the first time ever I tried blogging, while on vacation, using either my iPhone or iPad. Somehow my “Coffee Anyone?” post got deleted or out of sync on the server. My computer’s copy unfortunately was updated by my other devices so I lost some of the “last minute” additions to the original post. Since I can’t remember what I added, the shorter, unposted version, is now posted. Better to keep some of it than to not re-post any of it. My apologies for any inconvenience from this redundant posting. However, it appears to be only an update and not as a brand new post. Maybe I need more patience and coffee? 😎

Please pardon the dust around here.  I’ve been busy with cleaning up the blog and changing to another “blog theme” to use.  Twenty Twelve, which I like, is a WordPress blog theme created, most likely, in 2012. 😊  Continue reading

Good News

Ah, John 3:16.  The most often quoted of all verses of the Bible.  It is the “Good News” of eternal salvation offered by God to believers.  I grew up deaf and hearing impaired, not Hearing. Church did not appeal to me.  Because of my deafness and hearing impairment, I did not learn much or understand much.  But, John 3:16 was one of the very few verses I learned to memorize. Continue reading
